Blind Dog Media is a not for profit production company based in Dharamsala. Founded by Kalsang Rinchen, an aspiring Tibetan filmmaker, Blind Dog media aims to explore low-cost filmmaking and using it to creating a Tibetan community of aspirant filmmakers.
Kalsang studied at the Tibetan Children’s Village school, Dharamsala, from where he finished his higher secondary schooling in 1996. For his graduation in Economics, he studied at the St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad till 1999. He then cleared the entrance test for the masters in communication programme at the faculty of journalism and communications, MS university of Baroda, in 1999. He spent 2 years studying journalism and submitted a dissertation thesis on “Tibetan media with reference to major Tibetan websites”. After finishing his studies, he joined the Department of Information and International Relations of the Tibetan government in exile as the editor of the official website of the Tibetan government in exile in 2001.

In 2006, Kalsang got 2-year scholarship under the US government’s Tibetan Scholarship Programme. He finished his MFA in Film and Video Production in 2008, and as part of his degree, he submitted a documentary film “Phantoms of Chittagong” about Establishment 22, or the Special Frontier Force, a paramilitary force comprising of Tibetan refugee recruits that India started in 1962.

Blind Dog Media est une société de production à but non lucratif basée à Dharamsala. Fondée par Kalsang Rinchen, cinéaste tibétain, BlinDog Media a pour vocation d’explorer les moyens de produire du cinéma à faible coût et de l’utiliser pour créer une communauté de cinéastes tibétains.
Kalsang a étudié au TCV (tibetan Children Village) à Dharamsala, où il a terminé sa scolarité secondaire supérieur en 1996. Pour son diplôme en économie, il a étudié au Collège Saint-Xavier d’Ahmedabad jusqu’en 1999. Il a ensuite réussit le test d’entrée pour le programme de maîtrise en communication à la faculté de journalisme et de communication, MS University de Baroda, en 1999. Il a passé 2 ans à étudier le journalisme et a présenté une thèse de doctorat sur "les médias tibétains en référence aux grands sites internet tibétains». Après avoir terminé ses études, il rejoint en 2001 le Département de l’information et des relations internationales du gouvernement tibétain en exil en tant que rédacteur du site officiel.

En 2006, Kalsang obtient 2 ans de bourse dans le cadre du programme d’aide aux études du gouvernement américain. Il a terminé sa maîtrise en production cinématographique et vidéo en 2008, et dans le cadre de son diplôme, il a présenté un film documentaire «Phantoms of Chittagong, Etablisment 22», au sujet de la Force Spéciale des Frontières, une force paramilitaire composée de réfugiés tibétains que l’Inde a recruté en 1962.

Kalsang Rinchen is a journalist/filmmaker based in Dharamsala, India. Kalsang received his MFA from the Department of Media Study, University at Buffalo. With background in journalism, Kalsang has been instrumental in the success of phayul.com, an English language news portal of the Diaspora Tibetan Community as its first reporter and later as the first editor. Through his real time based coverage of the events and happenings related to Tibet phayul.com became the most popular website of the Tibetan exile community. Apart from work produced under Khyi Shara media, Kalsang holds workshops, classes on various aspects of filmmaking for Tibetan exiles.  Currently, he is working on a script for a narrative feature film to be directed by himself.
